Formed Day 1: The Potential in the Clay

Have you ever felt like you’ve messed up so badly—or that life has gotten so misshapen—that there’s no turning back? One of the most beautiful aspects of working with clay is the inherent potential inside it. Unlike sculpture where rock is chipped away permanently, or spray paint where every stroke is fixed, clay can be reset as long as it hasn't been fired in the kiln.

The Potter can always choose to start again.

The talent level of the Master Potter matters. Where others see an unsightly, heavy, or off-center piece of dirt, God sees the vessel it was designed to become. Too often, we get trapped in one of two mindsets:

The "Almost" Mindset: Refusing to let God reshape us because we are in love with being almost there.

The "Never" Mindset: Believing the lie that "I'll never be better, worth more, or capable of change."

No matter what state you find yourself in today—whether you feel dry, settled, misshapen, or completely broken—the Master Potter is not done with you. In His hands, your story can always start over.

Reflection

Are you holding on to an "almost" version of your life, or have you believed the lie that you'll "never" be reshaped?

Prayer Prompt

Father, thank You that my story is still in Your hands and that You are not done with me. I yield my life to You today. Forgive me for settling for "almost" or believing I could "never" change. Take my life, crush the places that are out of alignment, and begin again in me. In Jesus' name, Amen
