Formed Day 13: Making His Presence Your Env
Scripture:
“While Jesus was here on earth, He offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the One who could rescue Him from death. And God heard His prayers because of His deep reverence for God.” — Hebrews 5:7 (NLT)
Devotional
People often say, "You are a product of your environment," meaning your surroundings shape who you become. If that is true of physical and social settings, what happens when you make God’s presence your daily environment?
Jesus modeled a life where prayer was far more than a casual script or a quick habit; it was a deeply reverent work of devotion. As author Oswald Chambers noted, "Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer IS the greater work".
Prayer turns our quiet moments into "mounts of transfiguration" where we see God more clearly and come down changed. Effective prayer flows from a heart devoted to Christ and shaped by His presence. When we devote ourselves to the real work of prayer, it reshapes our surroundings and keeps our hearts firmly centered on Him.
Reflection
Are you treating prayer as a quick task on your to-do list, or as an environment you abide in throughout the day?
Prayer Prompt
Lord Jesus, I want Your presence to be the environment that shapes my life. Teach me to pray with the reverence, heart, and devotion that You modeled. Turn my prayer times into moments of transformation so I can walk out Your purpose with strength. Amen.
